10 Must Try Italian Dishes – Javier Burillo

January 20, 2022 by Theo Leave a Comment

The Italian culture has greatly influenced western countries regarding food, language, and lifestyle. If you love Italian food and want to try something different, here are some handpicked favorite mouthwatering Italian recipes chefs like Javier Burillo recommend.

1. Spaghetti Carbonara

It’s not adequate to label this dish as simply carbonara sauce because it has various components that contribute to its flavor. The best spaghetti carbonara is creamy, rich, and full of flavors. It is unique from the other pasta dishes because it uses eggs to make the sauce creamier. Ingredients for this dish include spaghetti, bacon (or ham), garlic, onion, eggs, pecorino cheese (if you can’t find this, Parmesan cheese is the best alternative), spices like pepper and salt.

2. Lobster Risotto

Risotto is made from rice, an amazing alternative to pasta dishes. The main ingredients in risotto are Arborio rice (a kind of rice designed to absorb flavor) and a number of ingredients, including onion, white wine, broth, spices, lobster meat, and other seafood.

The trick when cooking risotto is to add the ingredients in stages until the rice has absorbed all the flavors. The result would be creamy, tasty, and delicious.

3. Lamb Chops with Rosemary Sauce

What makes lamb chops unique apart from other meat dishes is that it’s healthy and very easy to cook. Because lamb is meat from a young animal, the fat content is not that much, and it’s healthy for you. You can grill or pan-fry the chops and to give it a rich flavor, add rosemary sauce, which makes it healthier than other tasty sauces.

4. Risotto with Asparagus

and salmon

Risotto is ideal for those who want to eat healthier as the main ingredient is rice. But this Italian dish can get boring if it’s just plain, so here’s a good idea for risotto that includes other ingredients like salmon and asparagus. This will help you introduce seafood into your diet while enjoying your favorite Italian dish.

5. Ossobuco alla Milanese

Ossobuco is a veal shank that has been cooked with vegetables, seasonings, and white wine to give it a rich flavor. The beauty of cooking Osso Buco Alla Milanese is that it’s flavorful and nutritious because the meat from the shank is rich in collagen, making it great for your skin and bones.

6. Cannoli

This type of Italian dessert originated from Sicily and has various elements that make it so sweet and flavorful, like cacao powder, candied fruits, cream cheese, and sugar, among others.

7. Calzone Napolitano

Calzone is basically pizza in a folded pocket, and when it comes to making your own calzone, you can add whatever ingredients you like in the filling. The beauty of eating calzone is that it’s more than just a tasty treat because the pizza dough is rich in proteins and fibers.

8. Lasagna Rolls

Lasagna rolls are ideal for those who want to eat pasta but don’t want to eat carbs because the lasagna noodles are replaced with thin zucchini slices. To make this dish, slice the zucchinis length-wise and top it with traditional bolognese sauce and ricotta cheese (a type of Italian cheese used for cooking).

9. Bruschetta

If you’re looking for a healthy snack or appetizer, try making bruschetta using fresh ingredients like tomatoes and basil, as it’s packed with antioxidants. There are various types of bruschetta, including the traditional one, which is made from garlic and basil on sliced bread; mozzarella cheese on French bread; avocado on whole wheat bread, and more.

10. Coq au Vin

This is a French dish that’s basically chicken cooked in red wine and spices like thyme and garlic powder. For those looking for something different, try cooking coq au vin because it sounds unusual but tastes great!
