Multitasking 101: How to Stop Yourself from Being Overwhelmed

October 23, 2020 by Theo Leave a Comment

No matter where you live, chances are that the recent pandemic has brought about a complete lifestyle change. The lives we would normally live outside of our homes have been severely limited for the sake of everyone’s safety, which can make it much more difficult to function as a member of society. While it might seem advantageous for some to work from home rather than the office, having daily life compressed into a few square feet can cause bigger problems than you might think.

For example, not only do you have to worry about work responsibilities, but you also have

to deal with responsibilities at home simultaneously. When you consider all of the parents who have to accomplish their tasks while supporting their kids through online classes, it is no wonder why stress levels are so high.

That said, a bit of preparation can make a significant impact. Here are a few ways to stop yourself from being overwhelmed.

Write it down

When your work sends you a schedule of what you have to do for the week, your brain is already making adjustments as you mentally brace yourself for the challenges ahead. Even if things might not be too challenging, having things occur one after the other without prior planning can make it more harrowing than it actually is.

Writing down a schedule of everything you have to do within the week can help you get the job done as you already know it is coming ahead of time. It might not seem like a big deal, but writing down your schedule beforehand can make a significant difference.

Take your free time to the next level

One of the reasons why some people end up getting overwhelmed is the fact that they are not getting enough satisfaction from their free time. If you do not balance work and leisure effectively, it can be quite easy to get disgruntled – but not everyone has the luxury of choice.

A good tip to make the most out of your free time would be to make use of wellness products that are conducive to relaxation. For example, some people claim the use of CBD transdermal cream can deal with daily aches and pains, while simultaneously dealing with inflammation and redness on the skin.

For those who are looking for an instant fix, something as calming as a hot cup of tea can make a big difference.

Dealing with distractions

Lastly, learning how to multitask means dealing with any distractions to ensure that you can focus on the tasks at hand. By decluttering your workspace, you can help your mind focus on your work. It would also be a good idea to let your family members know about your work hours so they will know not to disturb you outside of emergencies.

Learning how to multitask is something that everyone has to experience at one point in their lives. Fortunately, you do not have to worry about letting the anxiety get to you. The tips above are sure to help you from being overwhelmed.
